Hi Reader, The results of my recent survey on the State of the Business are in. Here are the key themes from the survey responses, so you can see how other business owners like you are faring out there. Results & Key ThemesBusiness is in a mixed but transitional state. Most respondents describe their businesses as struggling or steady rather than thriving. Some of you weren’t even in business a year ago, which means a lot of folks here are still in the early growth stage. The economy is a real factor.Almost half said the economy has directly impacted them. Some of the things you reported were:
🔑 This tells me that we are in a trust-based economy now more than ever. Our clients (and prospective clients) must TRUST us to work with us. Many are pivoting — and it’s not just offers.More than 60% of you have made pivots this year, most commonly in your offers, but also in your messaging and marketing. Many of you are experimenting with new ways to serve your audience to adapt to changing client behavior. 🔑 Learning how to pivot (and being willing to try new things) is such an important skill to learn. Flexibility is key! Client behavior is evolving. Some of you reported that your clients may be coming in or seeing you less often but wanting and expecting more. They expect deep listening and communication. Many of you report clients who want to do the deeper work. 🔑 Managing client expectations can be challenging, but that means we need to do even better at managing our own energy. Emotional climate: Cautious but hopeful.Almost half of you are feeling uncertain about the future, but no one identified as pessimistic. There’s trepidation, but also resilience and a desire to keep going. 🔑 Your own mindset plays such a big role in how your business will weather any storm. Don't discount it! The results in this survey echoed what I have been noticing in the market, with clients, and in groups. The bottom line is: The skills required to navigating uncertainty are important ALL the time and especially now. Because of this, I've been inspired to create a new live workshop: Navigating uncertainty: How to build resilience, manage your mindset, and protect your energy. It's free for group members.

Hi Reader, Last week, I spoke about letting go of what no longer works for us in business, but in life as well. I also offered a practice you can use for letting go. Letting go is the first step that should be done before deciding what you want to bring into the new year. But that’s a topic for next time. Today, we want to look at what is working and what’s not from a business perspective. I believe in prioritizing your instincts and intuition… but also in looking at the data. This means we...
Happy December! It’s been a YEAR… hasn’t it?!! Now that we’re in the final stretch of 2025, it's a great time to reflect and clarify what you want to leave behind in 2025… and what you want to carry in to 2026. This process can feel overwhelming. Sometimes the easiest approach is to start with what’s *no longer* working and what you don’t want to do anymore. For me, there are things that are no longer working AND there are things that simply don’t light me up anymore. Things that instead feel...
I’ve spoken a lot in the past about fear and how it affects our businesses… specifically the fear of being seen. (I even have a whole course around that!) That’s one of the biggest fears I’ve been working with in my life since … forever. The important thing to remember is that the fear of being seen (or anything else, probably?) can be remedied. I hesitate to say “overcome”, even though, technically we are overcoming it with every step we take. I’ve also spoken about how having trauma or even...
